"Tell Me" is the culmination of 8 months of songwriting and recording with six original songs and four covers. Three of the originals ("Mama Tell Me","Salvation", and"Anyone but You") are folk songs with acoustic string backing and emotional vocals."Mama Tell Me" is the story of a young boy who is questioning his mother about the horrible stories he's heard about unnecessary violence and the taking of innocent life around the world. Wondering how people can be so cruel to those they've never met, and in theory, should have no reason to hate, the boy tearfully recounts news stories that he's seen on television asking his mother these questions that he innocently cannot figure out."Salvation" is the grieving process of losing a loved one set to music. The simple, constantly-running guitar and smooth harmonies move through the stages of shock, sadness, and ultimately, acceptance of a tragic loss. Finally,"Anyone but You" is the story of an individual singing to their fiance at the alter on their wedding day looking back on their relationship as well as looking forward to the new experiences and challenges that will lie ahead for them.The other originals ("Forget the World","Here With Me", and"Tonight") have a very different feel as they're in the style of rock 'n roll, country, and pop. The rock n' roll song,"Forget the World", is a man's plea to his wife to skip work and spend the day rekindling the fire in their relationship."Here With Me" has more of a country feel and is an ambitious singer-songwriter's request to his girlfriend explaining that he needs to chase his dream of pursuing a career in music, but he wants her to accompany him on the journey."Tonight" expresses the feelings of exhilaration, excitement, and just a touch of anxiety that come with being intimately involved for the first time with someone who you are deeply attracted to.The remaining four songs are covers of Taylor Swift's"Everything Has Changed", Sam Smith's"Stay With Me", Tallest Man on Earth's"Love Is All", and Old Crow Medicine Show's"Wagon Wheel".
