专辑简介

All income from the sale of this CD goes uncut to aid in Africa and South America through the organization 'ETM - Europe Third World' (http://etm.altervista.org/portale/)Our world is becoming more and more polarized. We need to start walking in another direction and seek acceptance and respect for all different ways of thinking and living. On this CD, the West and the East team up. Classical music is played on the synthesizer with sampled ethnic instruments like the Armenian duduk, Persian ney, the Japanese shakuhachi, and the Indian tanpura. The past is mixed with the future, tango with khanda gati adi tala and everything is dressed in electrons. 1. Gymnopédies (8:57) is based upon E. Satie’s short, atmospheric pieces for piano regarded by many as the precursors to modern ambient music. When composed, these gentle yet somewhat eccentric pieces defied the classical tradition and they seemed a good place to start my electronic voyage.2. Seithfed (5:10) is inspired by Beethoven’s seventh symphony. Besides the synthesizer some electric guitar, bass and hand percussion is used.3. Gnossienne nº 1 (3:46). The duduk is a traditional woodwind instrument popular in the Caucasus, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Here it is used on E. Satie’s first Gnossienne in company with the Celtic harp and the Japanese shakuhatchi.4. Când ciobanul çi-a pierdut oile (4:13). We were lucky to have Michel Bouvier D’Yvoire in Studio Don Guanella one day. Via a Tibetan introduction he plays this traditional piece on his Romanian caval accompanied by Indian tabla and tanpura.Bolero (14:05) of M. Ravel is an experiment in itself. It's rhythmic mantra mesmerize us into the Orient – a feeling that is emphasized in the choice of instrumentation representing any corner of the world. 24 Persian string instruments take us to the climax. Besides the synthesizer some electric guitar and bass was used.Tema de Maria (5:20). A. Piazzolla’s compositions let classical music meet tango. Tema de Maria is as intriguing as can be and why not let it get a taste of Spanish flamenco?Appassionata (25:37). Hubris or sacrilege is perhaps the best characterization of this attempt to electrify Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 23 in F minor. Good that Ludwig cannot hear this!
